Is hip-hop artist Chris Brown quitting music? A pair of tweets the wildly popular artist sent Tuesday morning seem to suggest just that.

Brown, the 24-year-old native of Tappahannock, Va., said on his official Twitter page that his next album could possibly be his last. In a later tweet, he alluded to not wanting to be famous anymore for mistakes he made in his past..

Don't worry mainstream America. After this X album, it'll probably be my last album.

Being famous is amazing when it's for ur music and talent. I'm tired of being famous for a mistake I made when i was 18. I'm cool & over it!

Presumably, Brown is referring to the February 2009 incident in which he assaulted Rihanna and left her with severe facial injuries. He later pleaded guilty to one count of assault and another of making criminal threats.

Brown's newest album, X, is due to be released later this summer. He won the Best R&B Album Grammy in 2011 for F.A.M.E. and has numerous American Music Awards, BET Awards and People's Choice Awards to his credit.
