Today's pop-culture roundup includes inane speculation, Lana Del Rey talking about her sex life, yet another heroin-based death, our mystery music video and much more.
REALLY, JENNY?: You really want to go there?, per The Wrap, "It seems like Jenny McCarthy is going to just let it all hang out during her last few weeks on "The View." Tuesday's show was barely three minutes old when McCarthy let loose with some idle speculation about Hillary Clinton's sexuality. While discussing a tell-all book written by a former secret service officer on the Clinton detail, the hosts addressed a nickname they had for a supposed frequent visitor and alleged Bill Clinton mistress: "The Energizer."
"Amid the usual "it's none of their business" type of responses, McCarthy decided to toss a little bomblet into the discussion: "Maybe he has his girlfriends and she has hers." BOOM! "You're just putting stuff out there!" replied Sherri Shepherd. To his credit, guest host Jason Biggs took the bait and made an off-color Energizer joke. We'd repeat it, but ABC dropped the audio for at least ten seconds." http://bit.ly/WBG5dJ

However while she says she has had plenty of sexual relations with men working in the music industry, she denies it helped her career." http://dailym.ai/1nfJ85j
PEACHES GELDOF: Just the facts, per Us Weekly, "Three months after the untimely death of Peaches Geldof, the socialite's cause of death has been revealed. The TV personality and model passed away on April 7, 2014 at the age of 25, and the coroner ruled on Wednesday, July 24, that it was due to a heroin overdose.
"Pathologist Peter Jerreat said in a inquest held in Kent, England, that Geldof's body showed puncture wounds on the elbows, thumbs, and wrists, and she had heroin levels in the "fatal range" in her system. Her blood stream also held traces of methadone, codeine, and morphine. The daughter of musician Bob Geldof, Peaches was found in her home by her husband, S.C.U.M rocker Thomas Cohen. ". . . Breakup rumors have dogged the couple since Bey's sister Solange attacked Jay Z in an elevator following the Met Gala back in May. While the family released a statement saying they had put the incident behind them and moved on, the rumors of a split have not gone away." http://celeb.bz/1pcPEcu

"Chiabra, 28, is the founder of Royal Yacht Supplies, and though he was linked to Gossip Girl actress Jessica Szohr in June, it certainly seems as though he's hooking up with Selena this month! Selena laughed and wrapped her arms around Tommy when the two hopped on a jet ski together, and later they were seen holding hands and sharing the same towel while drying off. Get it, girl!" http://bit.ly/1rKzMyP

The fifth season of Masterpiece's biggest hit, Downton Abbey, will arrive on PBS on Jan. 4. It will have already finished its British run by then but now and then the Downton folks are determined to keep a tight lid on spoilers.
"Which means that pretty much all you're going to get out of someone like Joanne Froggatt, an Emmy nominee for her role as Anna, is generalities. She and a few of her fellow cast members were on a panel talking to members of the Television Critics Association late Tuesday." http://usat.ly/1kTZYlA
