(WJLA) - A song on Beyoncé's new album is under heavy scrutiny for using a clip of audio from the day that Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, ABC News reports.
The song, XO, uses a 6-second clip from Mission Control from the moments just after Challenger exploded on Jan. 28, 1986. The clip says, "Flight controllers here looking very carefully at the situation. Obviously a major malfunction."
All 7 astronauts aboard Challenger died when the shuttle exploded over Florida.
The song is about a troubled relationship, and in a statement, Beyoncé told ABC that it was recorded "with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen."
