Arrest warrant issued for actress Rose McGowan in relation to drug charges in Va.
WASHINGTON (WJLA) —
An arrest warrant has been issued in Virginia for actress Rose McGowan in relation to drug charges.
According to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police, this is tied to an incident that happened in January 2017 after personal belongings that tested positive for narcotics were left behind on a United Airlines flight that arrived at Dulles Airport. McGowan is wanted for possession of a controlled substance.
Police say this incident reportedly happened the day before the Women's March in D.C., which McGowan participated in.
If arrested, McGowan will have to face a felony charge.
Police say they have tried to contact the actress so that she can appear in Loudoun County Court in order to respond to the charge.
Her arrest warrant has also been entered into a national law enforcement database, according to authorities.
McGowan has been in the headlines most recently as one of Harvey Weinstein's most vocal accusers, where she says he sexually assaulted her.
Following notification of her arrest, McGowan tweeted: "Are they trying to silence me? There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of HORSE****."
