(WJLA) - "Divergent" showcases Shailene Woodley, a young woman who doesn't fit into one of the categories society demands she choose. As in the "Hunger Games," the system aims to control the population, and Shailene's individuality angers the powers in charge - led by Kate Winslet.
"Divergent" feels like the "Hunger Games" without the zest. Fans of the book might get some satisfaction, but the rest of us can't wait for the next chapter. 2.5 stars, rated PG-13.
Weekend Best Bets: "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and new movies "Bad Words" and "Muppets Most Wanted."
