Today’s trek through the pop-culture world finds a trending movie, a wax Stephen Colbert, “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” Britney Spears, other things, and the mystery music video.

RAVE REVIEWS: Here’s a sample, per the New York Times, “Silver Linings Playbook,” the exuberant new movie from David O. Russell, does almost everything right. The story tracks the feverish, happy, sad, absurdly funny ups and downs of a head case named Pat Solatano, played by a surprisingly effective, intensely focused Bradley Cooper, just as he returns to his parents’ home after eight months in a mental institution. Pat had been put away for a scarily violent crime, but now, having shed fat and the defense it offered him, and feeding on the shiny philosophy of the title instead, he feels ready to tackle the world. The world may not be ready.”

A FIXED GAZE: But where’s Jon Stewart?, per the AP, “Stephen Colbert will take his place among the presidents at the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Washington and will be featured in a new media gallery. Colbert is expected to visit the museum Friday to unveil a new wax figure created to represent him. The museum says Colbert donated his own clothes to dress the figure in a suit, tie, cuff links and lapel pin.”

LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS: The envelope, please, per the Los Angeles Times, “Colombian rock superstar Juanes won the Album of the Year trophy for “Juanes MTV Unplugged” at the XIII Annual Latin Grammy Awards on Thursday evening in Las Vegas, and the Mexico City sibling pop duo Jesse y Joy (that’s Jesse and Joy, to English speakers) won both Record of the Year and Song of the Year for their melancholy, down-tempo lover’s lament “¡Corre!” (Run!).”

BIG DECISION: Just the facts, per People, “Allyn Rose is more than just another pretty face. The Miss America contestant, who will represent Washington, D.C., in the Jan. 12 pageant live on ABC, lost her mom to breast cancer at age 16. Now, at only 24 years old, Rose has decided she will undergo a double mastectomy as a preventative measure after learning she is a carrier of the same rare chromosomal disease that her mother had.”

OF VAMPIRES: And lots of money, per Entertainment Weekly, “Just as Skyfall became the highest-opening Bond film last weekend, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will likely become the highest grossing of all the Twilight films. In their first three days, the last three Twilight films (New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn – Part 1) have earned $142.8 million, $120.9 million, and $138.1 million, respectively.”

MEANWHILE: The subplot, per Us Weekly, “Since Robert Pattinson accepted Kristen Stewart's apologies for her July infidelity, the pair have found themselves on more equal, if sometimes unsteady, footing. Her groveling campaign, which a friend says she extended to his family, paid off. Alas, trust remains an issue.”

STAR POWER: And then some, per Rolling Stone, “Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, the Who and Kanye West will lead an all-star concert to raise money for the Robin Hood Relief Fund to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy. The show is set for December 12th at New York City's Madison Square Garden, and will also feature performances from Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Roger Waters and Alicia Keys, with more artists to be announced.”

LET’S CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF: Stunning – simply stunning, per Radar, “Britney Spears and Jason Trawick had planned a romantic and intimate winter wedding, but after incessant fighting between the two, the impending nuptials have been called off, is exclusively reporting.”

GATHER ‘ROUND, KIDS: Look what’s on TV, per The Hollywood Reporter, “E! Entertainment U.K. is £40,000 ($65,000) out of pocket after being fined by the media watchdog OFCOM for airing Girls of the Playboy Mansion at an inappropriate time. The penalty fine follows an Ofcom ruling published April this year relating to the broadcast of consecutive episodes of Girls of the Playboy Mansion at various times during the day on Dec. 27 2011.”

THIS IS FUNNY: Even if it is Kardashian-related, per E!, “Count Kris Jenner as one who isn't putting much stock in the rumor that she and husband Bruce Jenner are divorcing. "I said, 'Honey, I think we're getting a divorce,'" she joked to E! News, recalling how she called her husband of 21 years on Wednesday morning to inform him that the National Enquirer had predicted their imminent split.”

HIT THE BEACH: Of catching a wave, per indieWIRE, “As we predicted in September back when Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures picked up U.S. distribution rights to Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," the production and financing entity will team up with a distributor -- in this case A24 -- to release the film nationwide theatrically next Spring. Talk about perfect timing.”

AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video.
