Rashema Melson, homeless D.C. valedictorian, visits 'Good Morning America'

(WJLA) - ABC7’s Sam Ford first introduced us to Rashema Melson a few days ago – she’s the homeless D.C. student who became valedictorian for Anacostia High School and received a full scholarship to Georgetown University.

Now, the whole world knows her inspiring story.

On Friday morning, Rashema and another homeless valedictorian were welcomed by Robin Roberts to Good Morning America. Touched by her story, Roberts honored Rashema on the top-rated morning newscast, and gave her a $500 gift certificate to a department store.

Rashema told Roberts she is thrilled by the recognition.
