National Park Service introduces online educational program

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) - The National Park Service is launching a new website for teachers that will provide lesson plans and resources from parks throughout the country.

National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis will unveil the new website Thursday at a middle school in Hyattsville. He will then join a social studies class as they travel virtually to the Grand Canyon for a lesson with national park rangers.

Organizers say the site will provide distance learning programs and professional development opportunities for teachers. It will provide materials relating to more than 125 different subjects.
