Brooklyn Jewish high school: Facebook goes, or get expelled

An Orthodox Jewish high school in Brooklyn, N.Y. is coming down hard on students who have Facebook profiles, telling them to delete them or face expulsion, says.

According to reports, every 11th grade female student at Beis Rivkah High School, in the Crown Heights section of the sprawling borough of New York City, was given a written ultimatum ordering them to delete their Facebook accounts and pay a $100 fine.

If they didn't, they'd be expelled from the school, which on its website aims to "nurture within students a commitment to community, to life-long learning and teaching, and to using Torah and Chassidic values as a guide in making life's decisions."

A school administrator told that the move was made to restore a level of Tznius, the Hebrew term for modesty, amongst students at the all-girls school.
