Zachary Mitchell, Justin Ferrell sentenced for discussing killing judges on Facebook

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Two men who prosecutors say discussed killing two judges on Facebook have each been sentenced to three years in prison.

Twenty-year-old Zachary Mitchell of Brooklyn Park and 26-year-old Justin Ferrell of Pasadena were sentenced Monday in an Anne Arundel County Court. Both pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening to injure a state official.

The Capital of Annapolis reports that authorities began investigating Mitchell after an informant said he tried to buy a rifle to kill District Court Judge Danielle Mosley, who was presiding over a theft case against him.

Prosecutors say investigators found Facebook postings in which Mitchell allegedly discussed killing Mosley and Ferrell wrote about killing Circuit Court Judge Michele Jaklitsch. Ferrell was facing a charge of probation violation before Jaklitsch.
