WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WJLA) - A Woodbridge man accused in the hit-and-run killing of a 13-year-old girl has been charged with multiple crimes, Prince William County Police said Monday.
32-year-old Duane Chaldron Brown faces charges including DUI-related manslaughter, felony hit and run and driving on a revoked license.
Police said Brown was behind the wheel early Sunday night when he ran a red light at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Touchstone Circle. Brown's car struck an SUV carrying four people, throwing two 13-year-girls from the vehicle. One of the girls died of her injuries later on Monday.
At his home, a young woman who identified herself only as Brown's niece had only positive things to say about her uncle.
"My uncle is a nice person. He goes out of his way for everybody," she said. "[He is] a big-hearted person and he wouldn't intentionally kill anybody."
