WASHINGTON, D.C. (WJLA) -- A 53-year-old woman was found shot to death inside her apartment in the 1200 block of Howison Place in Southwest D.C. Friday morning, police said.
Officers went to check on the welfare of Mary Anne Thomas after receiving a call from a concerned person who knew her. Her body was then found about 4:15 a.m. and a murder investigation got underway.
Police said they didn't know how long Thomas had been dead.
The waterfront district apartment where she was fatally shot is just two blocks from the First District police station and main offices of the homicide unit.
A $25,000 reward was being offered by police to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Thomas' murder.
