WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Authorities have tracked down and questioned the young woman who allegedly stabbed a man Tuesday evening during a fight inside the Van Ness-UDC Metro station.

Metro Transit Police officials say the stabbing happened just after 4:45 p.m. inside the busy Red line station in Northwest. Authorities say the suspect and the victim got into an altercation, during which the woman stabbed the man in his left side.

The suspect then fled.

Evidence from Wednesday's interviews have been forwarded to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington. No charges have yet been filed.

Officials say the victim, a 56-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He and the suspect did not know each other, Metro Transit Police believe.
