Gaithersburg City Police detectives are looking for the man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 14-year-old boy Monday night.
The teen was running along the 500 block of Midsummer Drive just before 7 p.m. Monday when an unknown man got out of a white, work-style van and grabbed him, police spokesman Dan Lane said.
Police say the victim pushed the alleged attacker and ran to his home in the 100 block of Upshire Court. The teen was not physically harmed. The van, they say, sped away from the area.
Gaithersburg officials describe the suspect as a Hispanic man, 6-foot to 6-foot-1-inches tall and 190 to 210 pounds. The suspect had short black hair, sideburns that came down to the middle of his ears, brown eyes and a round face. He was last seen wearing a white, crewneck t-shirt with 3/4 quarter length sleeves, white pants and tan boots.
The van was described as a Chevy or Ford, delivery-style or painter-style van. There were no back doors, and the tag was mounted on the right bumper. The passenger and rear side of the van had red trimming on the top border. Police say the tires had no hubcaps, and the front windows were heavily tinted.
