Silver Spring office hit by nine thieves

The group of nine struck three offices in Silver Spring from April 29 to May 8.

The search is on for nine thieves who stole items from an office building in Silver Spring. The crimes were caught on surveillance camera.

Montgomery County Police have recovered hours of surveillance video of the confident, brazen thieves who never covered their faces.

One thief seems to give the group of five directions on which office to hit. Two more then calmly follow him to another office suite, right past a camera.

The thieves struck Care For You, Inc., Aarune, and You In Mind Psychotherapy and Consultation.

“This was clearly planned,” says Joan Van De Moortel, the executive director of Care For You. “Someone knew what they were doing.”

Because the offices aren’t staffed daily, those working didn’t know the others had been robbed. The crews freely came and went, first on April 29 and April 30, and then returned May 7 and May 8.

The thieves, nine in total, looked more like movers, filing out the staircase with boxes and shoulder bags of items ripped off from a commercial photographer and psychotherapy group.

To add insult to injury, two bandits struggled to unhinge a 26-inch roller suitcase overloaded with stolen goods.

The building’s entrance requires a security code to enter, leading to speculation someone hid inside or this was an inside job.

A $10,000 cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
