Search for suspects who targeted gas station, food truck in Montgomery Co.
WHEATON. Md. (ABC7) —
Montgomery County Police are searching for a group of suspects they believe are responsible for two armed robberies in one small area of Veirs Mill Road.
On Tuesday, police released surveillance video and two sketches of suspects in the most recent armed robbery, which happened at an Exxon at 12245 Veirs Mill Road around 11:30 a.m. on September 22.
In the video, four suspects are seen getting out of a Chrysler 300. They enter the Exxon wearing masks and carrying handguns.
Police say the men demanded money of a clerk, who gave it to them. Police say they then went back outside, where a fifth suspect waiting in the Chrysler drove them away.
Three weeks earlier on September 1, police say they believe three of the same men robbed a food truck parked in a lot next to the Exxon.
A food truck employee tells ABC7 the men had large guns, and one of them pointed his gun at him.
“He told me to get on the ground,” the employee said in Spanish. “I thought that it was a joke. He told me, no, this is not a joke, this is a robbery.”
The employee says the men stole the money in the truck and then went away without shooting anyone. Police believe the men who committed that robbery also fled in a Chrysler 300.
Both robberies happened not far from where Veirs Mill Road hits Randolph Road.
On Tuesday, MCPD put out a call for help on its website:
“Anyone with information regarding the suspects or these armed robberies is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.”
