CENTREVILLE, Md. (ABC7) —
Fairfax County homicide detectives arrested the man they say killed a Centreville High School student last month.
In the early morning hours of February 14, police found the body of a man lying in the middle of the street in the 13000 block of Jeb Stuart Square.
Police say the man had trauma to his upper body and determined the death to be a homicide.
A day later, the victim was identified as 17-year-old Matthew Ortega. Ortega was an 11th grader at Centreville High School.
At around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Uriel Josaphat Espinosa Cruz, of Fairfax, was arrested for murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, police say.
Espinosa Cruz is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
Police say detectives do not believe this incident was random.
