ROCKVILLE, Md. WJLA) - A Gaithersburg man dubbed the "Beer Pong Rapist" has been convicted of eight counts of sexual assault in Montgomery County court.

Joey Poindexter, 38, sexually assaulted other young men whom he met in beer pong tournaments. Poindexter was found guilty on all eight counts by a jury on Thursday morning and now faces up to 150 years in prison when he's sentenced next month.

Poindexter's rape streak ended when he was arrested on Oct. 9 after an 18-year-old college student told police he became drunk and went with Poindexter to his home in Gaithersburg and was sexually assaulted.

Poindexter represented himself during his trial after firing his legal team in a move that the judge in the case called "ridiculously stupid."

After the guilty verdict was handed down Thursday, prosecutors said jurors made it clear that, "predatory behavior will not be tolerated in this county."

"This defendant abused the trust of young men he befriended while playing beer pong. He sexually assaulted at least five young men over a period of two years and that is not acceptable," said Ramon Korionoff, a spokesman for the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office. "Mr. Poindexter was a predator who took advantage of his victims' intoxication to assault young men in our community. Today, this jury sent a strong message that Sexual Assault will not be tolerated."
