Man shot in back in southeast D.C., has life-threatening injuries

WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A man was shot in the back Tuesday morning near a playground in Southeast D.C., leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the male victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was conscious and breathing.

Metropolitan police said the victim was shot just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday along the 2700 block of Bruce Place SE. In a since-deleted post to its official Twitter account, the department said it is searching for a dark gray vehicle with New York license plates GRR3583. In a subsequent tweet, police did not offer a description of a vehicle.
