Metro assault victim in critical condition

(WJLA) - Metro Transit Police have arrested and charged a Glenarden man with attempted murder after an assault aboard a Green Line train Friday night that left a man in critical condition.

Police say the fight between two men happened while the Metro train was traveling between Greenbelt and Fort Totten after 9:30 p.m.

Officers boarded the train at Fort Totten and found one of the men with serious injuries. The other suspect was not on board.

After MTPD broadcast a suspect description and photo throughout the Metrorail system, a man who fit the description was arrested a short time later at L'Enfant Plaza, police say. He was identified as Dionte Daniels, 22, of Glenarden, Md.

Daniels has been charged with attempted second degree murder, assault and reckless endangerment.
