An Arlington man is accused of throwing a meat cleaver in the maternity ward of Virginia Hospital Center Friday evening.

ARLnow reports Kareem Jorif, 34, went to the hospital to deliver a message to a mother that the father of her child couldn't make it to the delivery because he was in jail.

When the family wouldn't let him in the hospital room, police say Jorif pulled a meat cleaver from his waistband and started chopping at the door. He was eventually able to crack the door open and throw the meat cleaver inside the room.

No one was injured, but Jorif was later arrested and charged with five counts of attempted malicious wounding and carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held without bond.
