Joseph Medina escapes from police custody after medical treatment

(WJLA) - A Fairfax County prisoner briefly escaped from custody Wednesday while getting medical care at a local hospital, officials say.

Joseph Medina was receiving care at Inova Fairfax Hospital on Wednesday afternoon when he got away from his police escort at about 5 p.m. and ran, authorities say.

The 34-year-old prisoner was found a short time later at the Dunn Loring Metro Station, about 2 miles north of the hospital on Gallows Road.
