Erin Thorne, former Broadneck High teacher, has charge dropped

A child porn charge has been dropped against a former Broadneck High School teacher accused of having an improper relationship with a student, The Capital Gazette reports.

Erin Thorne, 28, still faces one charge of displaying obscene material to a minor. If convicted, she faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.{ }

Police say Thorne, a former English teacher and assistant track coach,{ }texted sexually explicit photos{ }to a 17-year-old male student during the 2010-2011 school year. Thorne also engaged in a sexual relationship with the student after he turned 18.{ }

The student graduated from Broadneck High in 2011.{ }

Thorne was placed on administrative leave in November once the school system started investigating the allegations of the possible relationship.{ }She turned herself in on March 12 and resigned from her teaching position April 8.{ }
