WASHINGTON (AP) - The D.C. police department is introducing a new dog trained to track human scent.

Police Chief Cathy Lanier will introduce the bloodhound Sam at police headquarters Thursday.

Officials say the dog's purpose is to track people over long distances. That will serve as a complement to the several department dogs already trained to conduct human tracks.
