City of Fairfax hit by thefts from cars, police say

Police say there was a rash of thefts from parked vehicles over the weekend in Old Lee Hills, Country Club Hills and Great Oaks communities in Fairfax.

In nearly all of cases, owners left the vehicles, which were parked in driveways and on the street, unlocked. Among the items taken were GPS units, cash, iPods and other personal belongings, which were left unattended in the vehicles.

City of Fairfax Police caution citizens to lock their vehicles if they’re unable to bring their valuables with them, or to place the items in a location within the vehicle where they cannot be seen or easily accessed.

Police also ask citizens to monitor their neighborhoods for suspicious activity and contact the police department promptly.
