AU grad student sentenced to 10 years for attempting to have sex with 2 kids ages 5, 7
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
An American University graduate student has been sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday for attempting to have sex with two children ages 5 and 7.
Julio Perez-Torres, 26, pled guilty on Jan. 13 to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity, according to a release from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Torres posted an online advertisement with an interest in having sex with kids. According to the DOJ, he was communicating online with an undercover cop pretending to be a father of a boy and girl, ages 5 and 7.
The DOJ states Torres sent weeks of sexually explicit emails, text messages, and phone calls to the cop detailing what he wanted to do to the children.
In Feb. 2016, Torres traveled from Washington, D.C. to Fairfax, Virginia with "toys" for the kids to meet the undercover officer and he was arrested.
