Attorneys charged in McLean home invasion, stabbing
MCLEAN, Va. (WJLA) - A pair of attorneys have been charged with two counts each of abduction and malicious wounding stemming from a home invasion that left a McLean couple hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, Fairfax County Police said Wednesday.
Andrew Schmuhl, 31, and his wife, Alecia Schmuhl, 30, of Springfield, are being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Detectives said the motive for the attack appeared to be revenge, with the couple going to the home of Alecia Schmuhl's former boss and his wife in McLean.
Police said the ex-boss answered a knock on his front door Sunday night and Andrew Schmuhl forced his way in and began stabbing the 61-year-old homeowner. Hearing a disturbance, the man's 61-year-old wife went to see what was happening, only to be attacked herself.
One of the victims activated an alarm, scaring off the attacker and summoning police. After talking to the residents, police said they soon after tracked down and arrested the Schmuhls, whose identities were not released at that time.
Police said the victims, whose names are still not being released, had multiple life-threatening stab wounds to their upper bodies; they remained hospitalized on Wednesday.
