ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WJLA) - Alexandria Police are looking for a man wanted for the attempted rape of a young child. We are choosing not to identify this woman, who says she is the victim's sister.
"I got a call from my stepfather and he said he had caught that man with my sister and he had pulled her to the ground," she said.
And this is the man police say attacked the 11-year-old girl. His name: Alfaro Estanislao.
According to police, the attack happened inside the victim's home at an apartment complex on Mt. Vernon Avenue in Alexandria. When family members walked in, the man reportedly ran out of the building.
"I called police right away -- she was terrified," said the victim's alleged sister.
Family members say they knew the suspect well, and are shocked at what has happened. They are also extremely upset that the attacker is still on the loose.
We showed the suspect to several people in this neighborhood. Henver Palma grew up in the area, and owns a business just down the street. He says he knows the man:
"I think I've seen him before...He's been here in this area so long, I don't know why he did it. I don't know what was in his mind."
Alexandria Police say say he's known to frequent the Arlandria area of Alexandria, and that they consider him to be "dangerous."
If you've seen Mr. Estanislao, you can call the Alexandria Police Department at 703.746.6711 or 703.746.6623 .
