5 arrested in gang rape of woman in Haymarket

HAYMARKET, Va. (ABC7) - Five suspects were arrested in connection with the gang rape of a 39-year-old woman in Haymarket on Oct. 23.

Pedro Agustin Orozco Rotela, 20, and Aras Beyzadeh, 21, were charged with rape and aggravated sexual battery. Mehran Salehzadeh, 24, Mohammed Hamza Al-Birmani, 18, and an unnamed 17-year-old male were charged with rape.

Police say the victim was visiting several known acquaintances when she was somehow incapacitated and sexually assaulted. The woman later woke up and went to a nearby hospital where police were called.

All suspects, excluding the unnamed juvenile, will appear in court on Nov. 30.
