4 men indicted for alleged roles in 19 armed robberies, 3 carjackings in D.C. area

Four men have been indicted on Friday for their alleged involvement in 19 separate armed robberies and three carjackings in the Washington, D.C. area between Nov. 2016 and April 2017.

Desmar Rashad Gayles, 25, Andrew Bernard Duncan, 26, Anton Durrell Harris, 27, Lamont Kortez Gaines, 27 were indicted, according to a release from the Department of Justice.

Police tweeted seven of those robberies and one of the carjackings took place in Alexandria, Virginia.

Gayles is charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, carjacking, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

Duncan is charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Harris is charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Gaines is charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, carjacking, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the DOJ, the men robbed 19 businesses and stole three cars. Two of the vehicles they carjacked were used to commit the robberies. In 10 of the robberies, the men used a .9mm gun which was found at Harris' home in April 2017.
