(WJLA) - After a period of heavy backlash, Twitter has restored the ability for users to block people they do not want following them, Yahoo! News reports.
Twitter announced Thursday that they had made changes to its block function, which allowed users to keep whomever they wanted from seeing their tweets or timelines. The company said, according to Yahoo!, that many users found themselves offended that they had been blocked.
However, after the hashtag #RestoreTheBlock went viral and the company endured a day of criticism, it retreated.
"We never want to introduce features at the cost of users feeling less safe," Twitter Vice President of Product Michael Sippey said on a company blog.
