D.C. area gas prices fall as oil markets fluctuate
Gas prices in the D.C. Metro area dropped four cents this past week as analysts predict that the average for a gallon will drop to near $3.50 by the end of June.
The average price for a gallon of gas in the greater metropolitan region dropped to $3.82 this week, down from $3.86 a week ago. The national average sits at $3.78, a penny lower than last week.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says that prices have stabilized despite volatility in the crude oil market, as oil prices hit a three-week high this past Tuesday before dropping below $100/barrel.
Prices at the pump in the within the District's borders continue to be higher than those in the region as a whole, as the average price for a gallon in D.C. now sits at $4.05, remaining steady from last Sunday.
One year ago this week, the average price for a gallon of gas in the region was $2.72.
