WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Metropolitan Police officers are making the summer educational, fun-filled and safe for kids.
For six weeks during the summer, students in a Southeast Washington community have a place to go that provides structure, safety and security.
The Metropolitan Police Department Summer Youth Academy provides meals, education, free field trips, and sports-related activities.
Seventy-five children between the ages of 5 and 13 are learning about the positive side of policing through the program.
