Citi Open benefits underserved youth in D.C.
By now most of us have heard of the Citi Open...it's a chance for local residents to get a glimpse of some of the top tennis players from around the world. But have you heard about Washington Tennis and Education Foundation, the non-profit owner and beneficiary of the Citi Open Tennis Tournament?
For more than 60 years, the WTEF has made a difference in the lives of underserved youth in the Washington D.C. area by using tennis as an entry point to share life lessons and set young people on the path towards reaching their full potential.
Today I had the privilege of talking with Tamika Mitchell, a former student and now instructor for the program.
However, it is not only about the tennis...that is just the starting point. WTEF President Eleni Rossides explains how the education aspect of the program has an even greater impact for the kids who participate.
