It was 30 years ago Monday that video gaming changed forever worldwide.

On July 15, 1983, the Nintendo Corporation unveiled its first gaming console, known as the Famicom. That later evolved into what we in the United States know as the Nintendo Entertainment System, which was released in 1985.

From there, gaming changed forever. The NES sold nearly 62 million units in the United States, and its best selling game, Super Mario Bros. sold 40.23 million copies.

The original Nintendo evolved into the release of the Super Nintendo (1990), Nintendo 64 (1996) and the Wii (2006).
