(WJLA) - Sweet relief could soon be coming for those who battle the issue of being follically challenged.
According to Time magazine, scientists at Columbia University Medical Center may be taking steps to find a long-sought cure for baldness.
The researchers in New York believe that by transplanting both hair follicles and the cells that accompany them, called dermal papilla, they can spawn new hair growth rather than just plugging in where it has fallen out.
Time reports that testing of this theory on mice led to numerous test subjects retaining newly-grown hair for several weeks.
The researchers' findings have been published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
