7 On Your Side: Chip reading cards not accepted at all stores across the U.S.
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Roughly 766 million chip cards are used at nearly two million stores across the United States.
According to the National Retail Federation, 99 percent of their members will have chip card readers up and running by the end of 2017, but a third party hired by card companies has to certify machines at over five million stores.
